Non-Toxic Kids Gift Guide 2012

Can you block out all the cheesy box store holiday commercials and ads? It’s hard, they are everywhere. These mega corporations are vying for your hard earned dollars!

Thankfully, there are many great resources for safer, greener and healthier gifts this holiday season. Here are many of the sites and resources I have gathered in my years of blogging. Hopefully, it will help you find what you need this holiday season.

First comes a shout out to our beloved supporters on this site. I’d shop at these sites because they provide eco-friendly and safe toys, gifts and products and are small parent run businesses.

1. Good Things Green Things: I love the tagline, which pretty much sums it up. “always eco-friendly. always awesome. always made in the U.S.” You can find a wide variety of safer personal care products for the whole family here, and eco-friendly alternatives for your pet. These lovely bath products would make a sweet gift for your colleagues, mama friends, or mamas to be.

2. Know someone greening up their kitchen? Getting rid of plastics that contain BPA and other toxins? A gift from Essential Safe Products will help. They have tons of stainless steel, glass, cast iron, and bamboo kitchen and food storage gear. Like this stainless steel muffin pan– no Teflon, no worries. And  look at all these kitchen utensils to replace their plastic counterparts. These would make lovely gifts for the eco-friendly and concerned home chef!

3. Want a personal gift for a beloved child? Check out these adorable personalized options from I See Me. There are Christmas stories, fairy tales, coloring books, place mats, and ABC books that can be personalized to feature a child’s name. They are unique, lovely and personal. What kid doesn’t love seeing their own name in print?

4. There are so many U.S. made, safe products, toys and gear at MightyNest. Started by concerned parents wanting to provide safer, greener options for the home, they have grown into a lovely full service site with a wide range of products. Here is an age by age shopping guide from a few years ago, and one just out this week, which I love, called Kid Toys Unplugged.  Yes!

5. Here is a list of some of my favorite small toy companies. They feature natural wood toys, made in the U.S. There are some great choices here including Nova Naturals, North Star Toys, and Down to Earth Toys. Some have unfortunately closed, like Kidbean and The Soft Landing.

6. Last year’s gift guide includes a few more of our favorite sites including Caterpillar Baby for cloth diapers, Ava Anderson, and Barefoot Books. So many great choices!

7. Please don’t forget my hand selected non-toxic picks at the shop page, listed above. On this page I have listed a few more of my favorites, and there is an Amazon page with my safe picks listed as well. Ordering through these links supports the writing here at Non-Toxic Kids, as I am an affiliate.

What are your favorite sites for safer, greener, and fun products and toys for your little ones, family and friends?

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
